Although Luke is 20 months old, I never wrote down his birth story so I wanted to do that now so I don't forget completely. Luke wasn't due until November 1st but I was really hoping for an October birthday so I could have fun Halloween parties for him! The night of Oct 16th I woke up somewhere in the 1 am hour and noticed my underwear was wet so I went to the bathroom. I thought maybe I just leaked out a little since it was hard hold it in being near the end of my pregnancy, but it seemed like a little more than it should be so I changed my underwear and used a pad just in case my water was breaking (although two weeks before my due date seemed really early for me). I laid back down but of course couldn't go back to sleep because I was hoping that I was going to go into labor but had no contractions (I never have any painful contractions until I actually go into labor because any Braxton hicks I have are just a tightening with no pain). I decided to go watch tv for a few minutes and sure enough, over the next 30 min or I realized I was leaking fluid and thought my water would break soon so I woke up Ike. He gets up so early to go to work and he said he wanted to go back to sleep until I was ready to go to the hospital since I still hadn't had contractions. (He didn't believe me I think) I can't remember which happened first....my water breaking or my first set of contractions but both happened within about an hour of me waking up initially. My contractions were regular, fairly close together, but manageable. My second child, Jack, came SO FAST that I didn't have time to have an epidural, and I didn't want to make that mistake this time. Since by water had broken, I knew it was time to go to the hospital even though my contractions were not that strong. I called my Aunt Saunna next door and she came right over to stay with the kids while they were sleeping so Ike could take me in. When we got to the hospital (I think around 3 am) they checked me to confirm my water broke and admitted me. They checked my records and, I don't remember this, but I guess I was positive for the group B strep so they started my antibiotics since I told them about my fast labor last time. I requested an epidural right away because my contractions were getting stronger but still manageable. I didn't want to take any chances. Within an hour of getting to the hospital I got my epidural and just as it was kicking in the contractions started getting pretty strong so I am glad I didn't wait and for another reason later. My mom got to the hospital in time for the birth and I was glad to have her there. It wasn't long before I was ready to push and like the other boys, Luke came out pretty smoothly after a few rounds of pushing....I have really good birthing hips! So I got to hold him and really enjoyed it this time then they took him to check him out and do the normal newborn stuff and the doc had to stitch me and get the placenta out. Everything seemed to be going fine and Ike, Mom and I were all talking and gushing over Luke then I noticed it was taking them a while to get my placenta out. The others came out no problem with a push or two but this doc was doing some massaging and pulling and NADA! She kept asking for the time from the nurses and after 20 min they brought in someone else to try to get it out. This little lady came in and I am not kidding....threw her whole arm up inside me to get the thing out. If I didn't have my epidural I would have been in serious PAIN! It was uncomfortable even with the epidural but not really painful. There was so much tugging and pulling, and pushing on my abdomen and finally after about another 10 min or maybe longer or her doing that, it came out. It looked all funny too. I am so glad I was able to get to the hospital in time to actually enjoy this last labor and he was the perfect addition to our family! He was born Luke Isaac Turley on OCT. 17, 2012 at 6:58 am. 7lbs 8oz 18.5 inches long. The Turley Timeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10026258655594340779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1581667847401180680.post-36284368419368937522012-07-17T18:25:00.002-07:002012-07-17T18:35:26.605-07:00Outer Banks Vacation!

Such a fun trip! I highlighted most of what we did with these pics. We spent most days at the beach and took one or two days for sightseeing. We had pretty good weather most of the time. There were a few days of thunderstorms and heavy downpours but they were isolated and we still got time at the beach pretty much every day! We have more pics on our water camera so I need to look through those!

It was Ike's first time on the Outer BAnks so I'm glad that after about 10 years of marriage I was able to take him to one of my favorite vacation spots growing up. My Pop has a beach house there we were able to meet up with most of that side of my family for a fun week! The long travel days there and back were hard on me but the boys did pretty good overall on the airplane so I can't complain too much! They had so much fun with their cousins and didn't want to leave! I even got to see two of my dear friends that live there now.

The only think I didn't like.....and living out west I forgot how much....were the mosquitos and humidity! I can definitely do without those two things! Other than that it was so fun and I really missed the WARMER ocean waters. THe pacific is SO COLD! Swimming in the atlantic was heaven compared to what we have here! I will be excited to go back in another few years! The Turley Timeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10026258655594340779noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1581667847401180680.post-9622865801315911852012-07-17T17:50:00.000-07:002012-07-17T17:50:26.753-07:006 Months

I am so excited to be on the downward slope of this pregnancy! I was really hoping to enjoy every part of it but that just hasn't been the case. I guess the older we get the harder it is to be pregnant. Plus, having two kids now makes it a little more difficult too. Mostly, I just hate my moodiness and short-temper and these DAMN veins! I have to wear support stockings every day or it is sore and gets a little swollen. At least it is only one leg but I just pray they mostly go away like they did last time. I had some at the end with Jack and they got better the minute I had him but they weren't this bad so we will see. Other than that.....he just sits really low (like all my boys have) so I feel a lot of pressure if I stand too long. Oh the joys of pregnancy! I am trying to enjoy this summer but will be excited for school to start in a little over a month so that I can get back to a little easier schedule. It will be helpful near the end and I can nap while jack naps. I have my 6 month appointment on Thursday so I will get the results of our ultrasound last month. Hopefully this baby is growing like Dane did and not our big boy Jack! The Turley Timeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10026258655594340779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1581667847401180680.post-26510875696909517462012-06-14T15:32:00.000-07:002012-06-14T15:32:26.847-07:00MONTHS 4 AND 5
Here's the 4 month belly pic. I started having problems with vericose and spider veins which I didn't expect so soon. I thought maybe near the end like with Jack but the saying is true that these things get worse with each pregnancy. So I get to wear "cute" support stockings in hopes that these things go mostly away like last time. They do help though, so I can get over the granny look! On a good note...about week 15 we found out we ar having our 3rd BOY! Very exciting although at first I was surprised because I really thought it was a girl. Guess my intuition was wrong this time! Sometime between weeks 18-19 I started feeling him move so that is very exciting and makes everything more real!

Month 5 Belly! A few weeks ago I had a lot of hip pain so I figured my hips were stretching and preparing for the baby to pop out and I know by this time next month there will be a huge difference. I usually have a lot of growth throughout this month so we will see. We had my 20 week ultrasound today and in a few weeks I will find out how his growth is. Let's just hope he is growing more like Dane than like Jack.....mama would like a smaller baby this time around please! Still wearing the support stockings and they are not going anywhere. Total weight gain so far is about 12 lbs so I am right where I want to be right now. Trying to fit in workouts gets harder as I get bigger but I try to get some weights in once a week if a I can and do walking or swimming on other days whenever I can fit it in. We have a very busy summer planned so the next two months will fly by!The Turley Timeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10026258655594340779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1581667847401180680.post-53521940726940792152012-04-27T16:13:00.000-07:002012-04-27T16:13:45.064-07:003 monthsI like to take belly pics each month to compare growth in my pregnancy. Here is 3 months...a few days shy of 3 months. It doesn't seem like much but I like to start taking pics when I notice a difference! With Dane I didn't start taking pics until about 5 months because I wasn't showing until then. With Jack I started showing between 3 and 4 months although it was pretty easy to hide until the 4th month still. I guess I am following the trend of showing just a little earlier with each pregnancy. I usually pop out pretty good between 5 and 6 months so we will see if this time I follow the same trend.

Nausea is pretty much gone. If I eat too much at once then I feel a little unsettled....but that's just a good excuse not to overeat I guess!! I am hoping now to just enjoy this pregnancy from here on out! Well, I will be able to enjoy it more and relax after I find out the sex of course!! Some friends told me about an ultrasound place in Newport Beach that does scans as early as 14 weeks for a great price, so I think we may go sometime in the next two weeks. That will be fun.....hopefully the news will be PINK....but I haven't been able to get a clear feeling about it this time around. With the last two I was pretty sure I was having boys and I was totally happy about that. Two boys in a row was easy....but now I would like to try my hand at a girl. It's out of our control and we will be happy (and done) no matter what.
I am pregnant for the 3rd and FINAL time! I have always thought that 3 would be my number and I wanted this last one about 3 years apart from Jack and we are pretty darn close with a due date of Nov. 1st. I am hoping for an Oct birthday though so we can have Halloween parties! Although I had forgotten this because it hasn't been celebrated in quite a few years since he passed, but Nov. 1 is also my grandpa's birthday so that would be cool too! So I am 10 weeks along and things are great now but we did have a little scare in the very beginning with some unexpectec bleeding which freaked me out pretty good because I never had that with the other two. I went to the E.R. and while I was there the bleeding stopped but I was still put on modified bed rest (ha ha...for me that is tragic) and a follow up was needed since they saw a small spot of blood in utero with the baby. I took it SUPER easy for about two weeks and then I gradually started doing normal things again as I felt up to them. Since I never had any cramping, and the bleeding never came back, I never did the follow up until this week when I had my regular scheduled first appointment. Although I felt strongly that things were ok (plus the increasing/continuing all day nausea was a good sign) it was still a relief to see and hear the heartbeat. We also got our first pic of our little one...pretty good one since I was already 10 weeks. So we are off and running and very excited for the next 6 months! I am also feeling a little better I am hoping sometime in the next week or so the nausea will be totally gone...it usually happens close to 12 weeks for me.

I also talked to my doc about my almost non-existant labor with Jack and how, even though it is 6 1/2 months away, I am concerned I will get to the hospital fast enough this time around. She said I will just need to go in when labor starts and let them know how fast my last labor was so they take me seriously, but we still have a while to worry about that.

So since this is my last planned pregnancy, I really want to make sure I document it well like the others and of course I am hoping for a girl....almost everyone in my family is....except for Ike! He just doesn't think he has any girls in him. I know the real reason though is becasue he is just intimidated by girls and all the things he has to deal with in worrying about them as they grow. They are just different than boys! If it is meant to be then it will be and I will be happy with another boy too....but I would really LOVE just one girl....so this is our last shot! Sometimes I try to analyze my pregnancy so far to see if it is any different from my last two and since it is still early it is hard to tell. Some things are the same and some are different. I'm really not showing yet so I can't tell if I am carrying high or low (my pants sure are tight though and I have retired some already). I carried low and right in front with both boys. It literally looked like I had a basketball under my shirt! The nausea has been a little different....it was more intense in the beginning. I did not want to eat anything and when I did it HAD to be whatever I was craving right at that second which meant a lot of special lunch trips out with Jack. Then the last few weeks have been more similar to what I remember, being average/mild but lasting all day. (Can't remember if it lasted all day last time though??) I have had some similar food cravings (salty stuff) but then some other cravings that were different. This week I have had cravings for cinnamon rolls, potato salad, and cucumbers in vinegar (i know, sounds wierd but I actually like that normally too....it is a Keim family thing). Two major differences that I can tell are that I have a majorly heightened sense of smell. Strong smells are not good for me and I have a hard time changing Jack's dirty diapers! Good excuse to start potty training....if he would only get on board! The other major difference is that I feel a lot more crabby and short tempered.....maybe because of the stress in the beginning and the all day nausea. Sorry my family has had to deal with that but they have been really good and Ike has been very understanding. Hopefully that time has passed though (the crabbyness...not the Ike being understanding thing) LOL!

Here is a pic of the baby at 10 weeks..........head is at the bottom and feet on top! I swear the baby is covering HER face with her hand too....I say HER because maybe it is a girl and she already doesn't like her picture being taken!! LOL! Wishfull thinking!
He is such a joy in our lives and has a fun little personality. I tell Isaac all the time he has such an easy going "middle child" personality! Guess that means he will be having a younger sibling sometime in the future. Don't know when yet...but eventually. Jack can be very determined at times and has his typical terrible two tantrums. Here are some pics and little facts about our little Jack in this stage....

SUCH A SWEET BOY. LOVES HIS BLANKET AND HIS THUMB AND LOOKS LIKE AN ANGEL WHEN HE SLEEPS!

When he wakes up I ask him if he had a good nap and he always says YES! Although he seems peaceful above, he occasionally wakes up in the middle of the night SCREAMING and it can be hard to calm him down. Don't know if those are night terrors or what but it is not fun! Luckily Dane is a very heavy sleeper and doesn't notice at all even though he is in the next room!

I used to sing two songs to Jack when he went to bed or took a nap but about 2-3 months ago he started saying "NO MOM" when I began singing becasue he knew it meant going to bed. (Or maybe he just thought my voice didn't have a good lullaby tone...who knows). I still try sometimes and maybe one day he will let me sing to him again....it's funny though!

He is also very good talker now and is pretty easy to understand most of the time!

When we are at Dane's basketball games he stands between Ike and I and grabs our heads and pulls them together next to his....he thinks it is so funny!

He loves to help out and clean up if we sing the clean up song! Too bad he is usually the one who made the mess in the first place!

He loves to put on our clothes. He is getting the hang of it and can put on shirts. Sometimes he will walk out with Dane's shirt on or even funnier...someone's underpants on his head (clean of course!)

We just got rid of his bottle last week. I wanted him to stay a baby a little longer but it was time and he only asked/cried for it twice but it wasn't hard to get him interested in a cup instead since all the big people in the house use one. Now he doesn't even drink that much before bed which I'm hoping will make potty training easier!

We are working on potty training casually right now....he goes a few times a day in the potty but by the summer we will hit it hard I think.

He is becomming very independent and likes to do almost everything himself!

WHen I ask him if whe wants a baby sister or baby brother he says.....sister (so does Dane) Let's hope their wishes come true!

I wish I could remember more right now but if I do I will add info as it comes to me.

I love this kid and I can't wait to see the kind of man he will turn out to be! Since we don't live in a neighborhood that is trick or treat friendly we went somewhere that was! A lot of her neighbors really decorate and it is a lot of fun. I took a pic of the best Halloween house I have ever seen. Jack took off his costume while trick or treating so he wandered around in his PJ's with his candy bucket. Dane was Justin Bieber, Jack was a dinosaur and Ike and I were Justin's stage crew and security (we weren't into adult costumes this year so we did what was easy). Not too many people got Dane's costume and one person called him a telemarketer (we laughed) but he didn't care because he was determined to be Justin. I'm glad it's over now because we can cut his hair!!! He has been growing it out since he decided what he wanted to be. Halloween was fun, but BRING ON THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS!
Angels were playing who other then the Yankees! We got there as the National Anthem was playing and there was a giant American flag on the field that covered the whole outfield. Pretty cool! It was a warm day so we only stayed in our seats a few innings then moved to the upper seats in the shade. Much better!!! It was a great day and I'm glad we decided to go to the game. To make it even better, after the game all the kids got to run the bases on the field. Dane loved it and it was cool to go down to field level!

We had a great trip this year and here are a few pics of what we did. The first week was beautiful every single day and there was tons of sunshine so we hung out at the beach almost every day. The second week wasn't quite as sunny so we took a boat ride where we say hundreds of dolphins out in the open ocean...AMAZING ...(I didn't get pics...so someone else will have to post). We also went to Sky High trampoline gym. It was fun flipping around and watching the big boys play dodgeball. There is even a foam pit that you can jump into and try crazy tricks. It brought me back to my gymnastics days and it was so fun and a great workout jumping around like that. I did tweak my back trying to do a back handspring on the tramp (something I should never do anymore because my back just doesn't arch like it used to) and it was sore for about a week but better now. Just gotta stick to jumping and flips...no back bending! We took some famiy pics too so I will post them when they are ready. All in all it was a great trip and we look forward to it every year! The Turley Timeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10026258655594340779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1581667847401180680.post-86910878627757087272011-07-17T15:48:00.000-07:002011-07-17T15:48:53.535-07:004th of JulyWe had our traditional 4th of July festivities that included a pool party at the Bagley's then bbq and movie on the lawn at Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Dave's! It was to honor my maternal grandma, Ethel Poulton. My mom and her 3 sisters were there with all of their posterity! We had everyone there except for one cousin who is on a mission in Colombia, so he gets a pass! LOL! It was a lot of fun but I wish we had one more day to spend with everyone! We took a big family picture and individual family pics, spent a day at the park playing with all the cousins, had water fights, played soccer (well me and all my boy cousins and their kids), went bowling for a little "adult night", went to Cowabunga Bay, watched slide shows of all the families over the years, and had one big giant dance party at the end. In between all that I had the best time hanging out with my sisters and all of their kids. I love seeing my boys play with their cousins. They don't get to see my side very often and I love that they got some real quality time together. It was a great weekend and I didn't get too many pics, so I hope everyone else posts theirs so I can copy them!

Dane's last TBall game was at the end of May and it was such a good season for him. He really learned a lot and improved and loved every minute of his experience! We will do it again next spring. He is already excited to start a new sport in the fall...he is thinking basketball or soccer, but we will see!

He also graduated from Kindergarten the first week of June and he is so excited for first grade. At first he didn't want to leave his teacher, Mrs. Wills (don't blame him cuz she is awesome), but she got the kids really excited for the next school year and he changed his mind. I helped a lot in the classroom and with parties and activities so I got to know all the kids in the class pretty well. It was fun! Hope he enjoys first grade as much as he enjoyed kindergarten!
There are a lot of scenarios I go through in my head. Ike always hates when I plan for or think about things that might or might not happen....he is more of a roll with the the punches and plan when you know type of guy (good and bad in certain situations). In my mind I really want to be continually progressing in all areas of our lives....in finances, business/career, in family expansion and relationships and spiritually. I know it is impossible to do all these things at once, but I would like to continually progress in each area little by little. I feel like if I am doing that, then I am doing it right and I don't want one area to suffer because I am putting too much or not enough effort into another. Hard to juggle at times as the family grows, but it's all worth it right?! So right now I am deciding if it is time for me to go back to work or not. And then if I do, will there be any opportunity for me. Being a teacher it is hard to jump from school to school like I have been every few years. Put that together with taking breaks here and there for both my kids when they were born, and I may not be able to market myself to potential employers very well. I have found adjunct work here and there at the local college and may continue that because it isn't a big commitment at all, but it only adds a little bit here and there. So is that enough or not? Am I not humbling myself enough and being appreciative enough of what we do have right now? We are very fortunate to live where we live in our humble abode with wide open spaces all around us. The gym continually progresses each month, but in reality, may not provide what we want for another year or so. Ike works hard training and keeping the gym running smoothly and does a great job and I still help a few days a week to have a change of pace from my mom/home duties, so I am grateful for that. But I find myself complaining more about the tight space we live in that always seems cluttered and messy at the end of the day, lack of health insurance (which I HATE) unless we pay out of pocket ourselves, and dirt that is all around us that gets tracked in everywhere unless I vacuum and clean it up at least once a day. I think about where I wanted to be at this time in my life (especially financially), we are not there. But we still do have so much to ge thankful for. When I step back and really think about these things, I feel ungrateful, because if these are our only trials right now I should be jumping for joy! I know others are facing much more difficult challenges in their lives, and maybe I need to be grateful for all the blessings and little opportunities that have happened over the past few years in spite of our trials and I can see the Lord's hand in it. I am just not one who is patient in waiting for things to happen. So, what do I do? I have to make the most of it and try to turn the negatives into positives and make something happen for us. Hence....the decision to go back to work or not. The extra money would be nice...the benefits would be even greater, the chance to move into a bigger place would be awesome, and I am really good at what I do and I enjoy that sense of accomplishment in that aspect of my life. It would however be more time away from familly and the boys (well, Jack, because Dane will be in school all day next year). And it would mean putting off baby #3 for a little longer than expected (weren't planning on starting that this year anyway). Plus, there aren't many education jobs in my field right now, so I guess if the opportunity arises I will make the decision then. In the mean time it is all in the back of my mind swirling around in different scenarios. For now I have to focus on end of the year activities for Dane's class, Dane's 6th birthday party in June, planning our family reunion trip in June (YEAH!!!!!), and thinking about the lazy days of summer doing more of this..........
THis gave me a lot of time to prepare for a good shopping trip, but wouldn't you know it....there weren't any really great sales this week. I did however manage to get a few items we use regularly at Walgreens for a great deal. I think this is how I will attack it from now on....smaller groups of purchases. It takes less time to prepare (only about 20 min this time) and I already had to go that way so I stopped in! They didn't have everything I wanted because it is mid week, but I was informed they were unloading a truck and to come back later and they might be restocked! Sweet! Anyway...my best deal yet (only I had trouble with a few coupons at check out so I could have saved a few more dollars). Here's what I got:

4 boxes of Splenda 100ct packets (I love lemonade and herbal tea so I'm trying out splenda)
2 Schick Hydro 5 razors (with one replacement cartridge each).
3 cans chuck white tuna
8 bags popcorn (they were selling individually for .25 each)
2 packs stayfree maxipads

Retail total: About $40 before sale discounts and coupons. Here's the retail breakdown...razors retail about $9 each, the splenda and pads retail about $3 each, the tuna just over $1, and the popcorn is sold separately for .50 or more each. Plus Retail at Walgreens is a little more expensive then retail at discount stores like target or walmart, but with the deals they have weekly, I can pay much less!

Grand total out of pocket: $9.50!!!! AND...I got a $4 coupon to use on my next walgreens purchase before 5/11/11. So that's really like I got it all for $5.50. Not too bad I say! I want to go back and use the $4 on replacement razor cartridges when they are restocked, so I will get two packs for about $5...that's $2.50 each for TWO replacement packs (I think they are 3 or 4 count).
I am not saving what the pros are by any means, but currently I am at about 50-60% savings per trip. Many of the "pros" use coupon clipping services and buy tons of one item when it goes on sale and then stockpile it. Plus they spend hours and hours per week planning their shopping trips. Well, I just don't want to spend that kind of time on this and neglect other duties I have to do in my day (still trying to get my "system" organized) so I do my coupon practice on a much smaller scale, only getting 2-3 papers per week and getting only the brands and items my family will really use in the next few months (even if we aren't currently out of it). Maybe one day when I have space to store items and am more experienced in couponing I can step it up and make bigger purchases, but for now it is working great. Here is an example of what I got today. I spent about $45 out of pocket but saved about $35 based on matching my coupons with store sales and promotions (store bonuses using savings cards) and making multiple transactions to get the most out of my savings. It may not seem like a lot of items for $45, but many of these health and beauty items were items that are typically large expenses....like make up, lotion, skin care, and razors. Here's what I did:

Transaction #1: Bought the two jergens and one biore product on a buy $20 get $10 rewards bucks. I used one coupon (could have saved more if I had a coupon for each of the 3 products) but with tax, paid $25 for the three items (the biggest expense...this first transaction needs to be refined a little more).

Transaction #2: 2 boxes bic razors, 2 bags nestle candy, 2 bottles loreal vive products, visine. Used coupons for every item plus my $10 rewards bucks from my first transaction and that brought my total down to about $6 (that includes tax....which was almost $2).

Transaction #3: 2 m&m eggs, 2 snickers eggs, peeps, 3 almay make up products. Using my coupons for every item (plus b2g1 free special on the make up) my total came out to about $13. Then I will enter my receipt number on Riteaid.com and get an extra $5 rebate for the makeup purchase that I can cash or use in store for a future purchase.

Went to Stater Bros. supermarket after that to make use of one or two deals at the end of the sales cycle and got all the food products in the picture (minus candy) for only about $7 using my coupons on top of the store promotions. So that is 4 packs breakfast sausage links, 1 pack lunchmeat, 2 packs go gurt and one box cereal all for only $7.

On Sunday I entered my coupons from my paper into my excel spreadsheet I made to gain easy access to my available coupons, date received, expiration date, etc (takes about 30 min) then I planned out my drugstore trips for the week. (usually at Riteaid, Walgreens or both). I spent about 2 hours on it total, but it will get faster as I go on.

When the supermarket ads come out tomorrow I will plan my grocery trip for the week, which takes a little more time, but I am going to set a goal at 2 hour planning time and $50 spending limit for now. I have found some great local blogs that do the coupon match ups for you so you can decide where the best deals are. I usually look at Stater bros, Ralph's, and Albertson's since they are all close by. If anyone has any tips for me, let me know. This couponing thing is kinda fun because I feel like I can get good deals (who doesn't want to save money?) and a shopping fix.....since my other shopping trips for fun stuff like clothes etc don't really fall into the budget right now! Happy shopping!

Jog-a-thon at Dane's school.

Although I have been M.I.A. for over a month, I still want to document a few things. First, at the beginning of March Ike gave his two weeks at his second job and went back to running the gym full time again and trainig. I was nervous about it at first, because it means a drop in income/benefits but underneath the initial fear was relief for him and me. He worked like a dog for 7 months and the plan was around 6 or until we felt the gym was stable enough to do so without us going crazy financially. After he worked his last day I think we both felt a weight lifted....it just wasn't the right thing for him to do anymore and it's purpose had run its course. So he is back running the gym full time and I am at home with the kids more now. I am glad to be home more (for now) because I feel like I can have more balance with keeping up with the house and kids. I thought it would give me a little more time but I still feel like I stay pretty busy. I think I go in cycles and it's like I can never make up my mind....do i want to be a stay at home mom or do I want to still be involved in my career? I know I don't want the full time career right now because it is just too much and I think it is important for me to be with my kids as much as possible especially right now while they are still fairly young. Then there are times when I think about going back to work and I get excited because I think I am good at what I do and it is important to feel that accomplishment and appreciation in that aspect of my life as well. For now I am good but depending on what happens for us in the next few months, I may be revisiting the idea of either working again, or thinking about child #3. But like I said...a lot is riding on how things develop over the next few months.

That being said, I posted some pics from my phone (not great quality...guess I need to upgrade again). Dane had a jog-a-thon at his school to raise money and I think I still owe $1 or something...whoops! I love watching him grow and develop and interact with is teacher and classmates. I love seeing him learn.

A few weeks ago we had a little visitor slither accross our front lawn, down the driveway, then off into the brush...YUCK! I sat down on the sidewalk to put Jack down and turned to my right and BOOM...there it was about 5 feet away in the grass! I grabbed Jack and jumped up so quick. The snake was about 5 feet long....harmless, but gave me the heebie jeebies none-the-less!!

My sister came about a week or two ago for her spring break at the Univ. of Utah. It was so fun to see her...it had been about 9 months! She came for 3 days and we met up with some cousins, went to disneyland, went to the beach, and just played with the boys. I was hoping for better weather, but it was still better than what she left behind in Utah. I have some more pics on my camera so I will add those later.

I had to include a pic of this Low Country Boil we had for Sunday dinner tonight at Ike's Aunt's house. Ike's cousin, Burke cooked up some good grub for his daughter's b-day party. It was a variety of shellfish, sausage, potatoes, and corn...YUM! I haven't had crab in forever! Jack even tried it! Of course he just ran around biting and sucking on his little ear of corn most of the time but it was fun!

Ike went to the final four in Houston, TX this weekend and I'm staying up to wait for him to come home from the airport. I have only talked to him briefly over the past few days because he has been so busy meeting up with his coaching buddies, and going to a ton of events. I think it has been great for him and I know that is what he is really meant to do. While he was there he texted me a few times that we need a weekend get-a-way...and Yes, I agree...we do! I don't think we have ever been away from the kids...and it is about time! Maybe we can work on that soon! Anyway, he was really missed and I can't wait to have him back, but I'm glad he had a good time. He deserved it after all the hard work he has done over the past 6 months!

So, I haven't posted in a while, but I figured out why...my camera was set to the best pixel setting and it took FOREVER to upload pics...hence, no blog posts for a while. These all came randomly from my phone, so the quality isn't as good, but they popped right up! Anyway, here's what we have been up to in a brief bulleted list:

Christmas at home and then with Ike's family

Visit from Ike's Dad and Cheryl with a fun trip to Knott's Berry Farm

New Years Eve was pretty uneventfull, and the Turley house was exhausted that day and went to bed before midnight. (Sad, I know) We just weren't feelin' it this year!

Busy time at the gym (of course) with the new year.....hopefully the trend continues

Jack started walking in December and is a pro now. He is so fun right now and loves being outside, waving "hi", and he knows what a cow says! We are teaching him new things all the time because he is a giant sponge right now! He is 14 months old, has 8 teeth, is about 26 lbs, and wears a size 4.5 to 5 shoe and 18 month clothes.

Ike is still working his night job with YRC and I'm still running the gym, but I am only there mornings now, so that it nice because it gives me time to get things done at home and feel like I have some down time as well. I started teaching a Personal Training class at Riverside Community College that meets for the next month on saturdays. I loved our first class (minus the technology difficulties) and am thinking of applying for adjunct teaching positions in the PE or Education department. It's more money for smaller class sizes of students that are actually interested in learning and don't act out like pre-pubescent (sp?) teenagers do!

He was born the day before Thanksgiving last year and we got to come home on Thanksgiving night. The year has gone by so fast! He started out at 9lbs 14 oz and my guess now is about 23-24 lbs which we will be able to confirm at his one year check up next week. We had a family celebration after we ate our turkey and pie and it was an overall great day. He had fun with his little cake and the proof came up twice a little later on! Too much green frosting for Jack but he didn't mind! There are too many reasons to list why I am grateful for this little (big) boy, but here are a few of my favorite things about him:

He is a great sleeper when he's not cutting teeth (that thumb sucking really comes in handy right now, but hoping it's not a problem later on). I put him in his crib with his bottle (no judging) and he is usually out as soon as his bottle is gone. If not, then he pops in his thumb and grabs his blanket with the other hand, rolls over to his side and knocks out. I love watching him fall asleep on my monitor. If he does cry, then it usually only lasts 10 min or so and then he lays back down and sleeps.

Speaking of teeth...he currently has one that just broke on top and a wierd situation on the bottom. He has one regular tooth and one that looks like it should be two separate teeth. Kinda funny, but hope it's not an issue later.

He started taking steps about two weeks ago and is doing better each week. His biggest drawback is that he tries to go too fast...he just wants to start running I guess! Crawling is still his fastest method of travel!

He knows quite a few signs (some legit and some I just made up) and he's pretty good at communicating. My favorite one is when he is tired, he will put his hand on his ear, and if he's REALLY tired, both hands go up on the ears. It's so cute. I started tilting my head on my hand when I would put him to bed, and he just caught on. He also puts one or both hands in the air if he wants "up". He will do the official "more" sign and "bottle" sign when prompted. And he points at a lot of stuff. I can only imagine how fast his brain is working...it's amazing to see it at work!

Our favorite song in our household right is "Dynamite" by Taio (I think that's right). Dane LOVES it and when we put it on and sing the chorus part..."I throw my hands up in the air sometimes...." Jack will put his hands in the air like we do and start moving his body by bouncing and pumping his hands...SO fun to watch!

He comes to work with me each morning and all the female "regulars" just adore him...he's like the TFitness mascot! I need a baby gate, though, cuz he always wants to leave the office! When it slows down in the late morning I let him crawl around by me while I'm wiping down equipment or vacuuming. I'm so glad I am able to take him to work with me. I didn't have that luxury with Dane, and although he still did great at the montessori school we sent him to, it would have been nice to be with him during the day more often.

Overall, he is just a really happy and loving baby. He is tormented a little by his older brother because Dane just wants to wrestle with him and play with him like a big boy. I keep reminding Dane that one day Jack might be bigger than him and he will take him down, but Dane insists he will always be bigger than his brother. Hate to break it to him, but Jack is the brewser of the two!

There are so many things to list about this little chunker (I call him my little fatty), but there's just not enough time in the day and I always forget stuff and remember it later on anyway! I'm just so happy to have both of my boys....don't know what I would do without them. Ike and I did pretty good, I must say!

(Oh, and by the way, Ike and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary on the 16th of this month! Love him more than ever and we have two beautiful boys to show for it!)The Turley Timeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10026258655594340779noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1581667847401180680.post-59222793016488772352010-11-27T17:53:00.000-08:002010-11-27T17:53:38.119-08:00Halloween a little late...

That's not only because I'm not 8 months pregnant, but because we have been having a lot of fun lately (especially now that our D-Land passes are in full effect again) and life just seems to be good overall!

I don't have any Halloween pics to post cuz I can't find the computer connection to my camera at the moment. That's too bad because Ike looked hilarious as Joe Dirt, and I was his total opposite...a ladylike 50s wife! When I find the cable then i will post the pics. Until then, here are a few from our Friday night Disneyland trip

The one above is not of a Vegas night club, but it is CA Adventure! They are promoting TRON Legacy by turning the main street (by Alladin and Monster's Inc) into a true Techno club. There are dancers on platforms dressed in the Tron costume, lasers and lights flashing everywhere, techno music bumpin' and more! It is like a Tron movie set...kinda cool, but not what I would expect from Disneyland....like the alcohol they are serving out in the open at this little bar!

I can't believe how fast they are both growing! Before you know it, I will be wanting another one (aka the last one)....but how about a girl this time...I wonder if I can make requests? Well, there are a few things that have to align first before that happens, so for now it's just a thought for the future!
Guess he has to get used to that cuz it will happen a lot during his lifetime! The Turley Timeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10026258655594340779noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1581667847401180680.post-10436792662052676532010-09-26T18:49:00.000-07:002010-09-29T12:04:17.032-07:00Dane's award

Dane got an award for "Exceptional Effort" for the month of September. He was so excited! His teacher, Mrs. Wills said he is so excited about school and always tries very hard. I agree! Every night he asks if he is going to school the next day...and he still asks to have hot lunch! He gets it twice a week!
I volunteer in his classroom every other Friday and Mrs. Wills lets me do a 20 min PE activity with them. It's really fun because I haven't done elementary school activities in a long long time. It's also good experience to keep me in the game until I want to go back full time again. Oh and I got talked into being co-room mom. It will be fun, I guess. The Turley Timeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10026258655594340779noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1581667847401180680.post-11829717481039671952010-09-05T09:49:00.000-07:002010-09-05T09:52:02.761-07:00Dane and SchoolDane has been in school for two weeks now and he LOVES it. I had to explain to him that there is no school on the weekends because he wanted to go EVERY DAY! He loves his teacher (so do I) and his one thing he always wants to do is get "hot lunch"! Since the food at his school is not very healthy overall, I let him get it on Fridays. Unfortunately, this past Friday I had to pick him up early because his mouth/teeth were hurting (he was up the night before complaining of some pain too), so he didn't get his hot lunch. As soon as we left he was asking about going back to school to get his hot lunch. Maybe the novelty of it will wear off soon. So ... (on a Friday remember) I had to call all over...doctor, insurance, dentist...to figure out where to take him. His dentist was out of town, so we went to the doc and he said he had a gum boil probably due to an infection in the tooth and should get to the dentist asap, but he started him on the antibiotics he needs now. Hopefully it will not be a huge deal, but we will see next week. At least he is not in pain anymore.

That same week that Dane started school, my cousin (Skyler) came home from his mission to England. We went to his homecoming party at my Aunt's house and it was really good to see him again. Now he's already off to school at BYU. Nothin' like jumping right back into life again....I'm sure he will adjust beautifully! My grandma was there also and i always love spending time with her when I can. Here are a couple of pics from that too.
Nice that you can supposedly move the pics around, but it has not worked for me (as you can tell...with the pics all over the place). It also took SO long to upload the pics...could be my 6 year old computer too. Maybe that's why I don't post much anymore....it is such a pain sometimes! Maybe someone can enlighten me on an easy way to do it.

Anyway, because of this, I'm not in the mood to comment much on the pics, but here they are. It was a really fun trip and we always look forward to it every year! The Turley/Whitehead families are ever growing and each year we have more new babies. Because of this we had two houses the second week. It was really fun! I will have the full spectrum of pics on facebook, so you can check out the rest there!
