Hair Impatience!

Whenever I decide too change my hair, I want it done right away! I have been wanting a cut/color for about a week now and this morning I just decided to cut my bangs because I wanted something different. Wasn't planning on doing bangs, but it sounded good this morning, so it happened. I may love it or hate it, but it's done, and now I just need to cut the rest of my hair to frame my face a little better! I'm definitely not going to attempt that myself....will get that done this week and post a better updated picture. I was just messing around today with the camera in the bathroom with Jack and got a few funny shots, so don't judge my hair just yet...wait until I get a professional to fix it up!

Love this...too cute

Jack did this all on his own.....talented...he didn't even mess up his swaddle for the most part!

Jack at 3 months

Tomorrow Jack will be 3 mo. old! He is growing so fast so i'm glad modern technology allows me to document it so easily! Here's what he's been doing:

*In 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers.
*Loves to talk and coo....he really is a happy baby.
*He has deep blue eyes, and I think his hair will be darker than Danes....probably a good brown.
*His binki is a quick cry fix....so easy for mom to get just a few more things done at once.
*Still loves sucking that thumb or his hand...if he cries then suddenly stops, I know what has happened. I still put mittens on him sometimes, but he started sucking on his thumb over the mitten, so not sure if they help, but I will keep trying.
*Still loves to be swaddled to go to sleep but I always find him uncovered with his hand or thumb in his mouth when he wakes up!
*He is so wiggly!
*Occasionally rolls over front to back, but not consistant....doesn't really like being on his tummy.
*When he is on his tummy, he usually tucks his knees up unerneath him an ends up scooting himself forward......I know...Yikes...I'm not ready for any kind of movement yet!
*Usually sleeps 6-7 hours per night, but I think his 3 month growth spurt has disrupted that a little bit this week. Now, if I could only get my other child to stop waking up at night (he's in a scared phase).......one day BOTH will sleep through the night and I won't wake up feeling tired...one day.
*He still has his cowlick just above his forehead on his right side....don't think it's going away. I have tried combing it down and gelling it, etc, but I've given up and am letting it fall where it may! Maybe it will give him "character"...or maybe he will be yelling at me one day for not getting rid of it...who knows!
*He is definitely a mamma's boy right now (nursing is mostly the reason), but he really calms down when he is with me or in sight of me. Ike gets so frustrated sometimes because Jack will just start crying when he's holding him and there's really no reason....then he comes to me and he calms down quickly. I will take that as long as I can...because when Dane turned 1 or 2, he became all about Dad, and has been that way ever since.
*Jack is growing similarly to Dane...longer torso and smaller legs, so he grows out of shirts faster than pants...Long and lean just like their dad! Ike jokes that my family's "short" genes have doomed Dane, but maybe there is hope for Jack! Truth is, Ike didn't get his growth spurt until later in high school and kept growing through his mission! So, we have some time Ike!!!

I'm sure there is more, but I just can't think right now, and I'm hearing some crying behind me, so we know what that means!!

Hiking Mt. Rubidoux

I love having someone near you that you can work out with! Mandi and I have always loved working out together.....we did it with our girls (Elika and Ashley) in Hawaii and now that we live near each other again....and we had babies at the same time.....And like to work out at the same level, it is PERFECT! She comes up twice a week and one of us watches all the kids at my house, while the other goes to TFitness and works out (helps to own a gym, I guess)!! Then, another 2 days a week (most weeks), we have been hiking up the paved trail at Mt. Rubidoux in Riverside. It is absolutely GORGEOUS right now and we have had some rain on and off for a while, so the sunny days are just beautiful. 70 degrees and visibility for MILES yesterday when we went.....I just love that I can be outdoors in FEB! I know I have to enjoy it now, because the HOT days are just a few months away and we may not get to do this then because I don't know if it is possible to get up and out the door early enough to catch the cooler morning weather then, but we will see! For now, it is GREAT! For all my loved ones in colder temps....you are always welcome to come to the sunshine!!!

This is looking down on the back side of the mountain, opposite from the direction where we live. I love the sweeping clouds and snow capped mountains in the distance....so pretty. You can see the paved trail we use and there is also an airstrip down at the bottom. Sometimes the planes come really close and the kids love it!

I tried to get a pic of Dane and his cousin, Waimea, saluting the flag....it worked okay, but they looked a little more like they were shielding their eyes.

THis is Mandi pointing toward the Overlook area where Kathy lives...from the top you have a 360 degree view and it was so clear yesterday.

Me and Dane!

At the top with downtown Riverside behind us. Oh, and I'm sportin' my "new-used" stroller.....it has been awesome so far!

Update on the last month!

This is one of my favorite pics so far....my little guy!

He is usually a pretty good baby...even tempered.

But what drives us crazy, is when he does this......

And when we take it away, he does this.......

Luckily he takes a binki, so we can put mittens on him to stop the thumb sucking and get him to only suck on the binki. I'd much rather take that away from him in a year or so then have to worry about the thumb thing. I'm sure both Kathy and Mom can vouch for the difficulty of stopping thumb sucking in older children because Ike and I both did it!

Jack is definitely evening out in the height/weight department (I'm not complaining). He was 95th percentile in both at his one month check up and now he is down to 75th for both. He is 12 lbs 7 oz and 23 in. long. I'm good with that....so my back doesn't kill me after carrying him around for too long! He is such a good kid and I'm SO glad he is easy to calm down when he is crying. He is the LOUDEST talker you have ever heard...he practically screams and shouts what he is saying sometimes...so cute! Wish I could get it on camera...I always bring it out too late and then he just stares at it and stops performing. One day I will get a good video of it and post it. He has rolled over a few times since his miracle rollover at 3 weeks and he has really good head control and likes to sit up (assisted of course!) He also loves being outside, and I love the fact that I can take him out this time of year because of the climate we live it. It has been a pretty stormy winter so far, but we have still had some really nice days and he just calms down and looks around and takes it all in. He sleeps pretty well, averaging 5-6 hours at a time, and to my surprise he slep 8 hours two nights ago...WOW. Don't think that will be the norm, though.

Dane has been pretty good with him, although he has his "helping moments". Sometimes he likes to help and other times he wants nothing to do with it. He has been spending a lot of one on one time with Dad and I think he really likes it...they are actually going to see monster trucks tonight. The extra quiet time with just me and the baby is nice! He has been saying some really funny stuff lately, and other times not so funny. I guess I tell him he drives me crazy too much because he has been telling Ike and I that a lot lately. And last week when his cousin asked him to tell us a "Football story" (because he loves talking about football), Dane began his reply by saying..."Once upon a time..." Everyone started laughing and he didn't get to even tell his story!

Ike has been given the green light for the Gym expansion and is working on that this month, which should be done at the beginning of March. There will be an extra 1400 square feet...half of which will be a fitness room for classes and the other half will be added equipment space. We are really excited and the members are too! Ike has been doing a great job with running the gym and I'm really proud of how successful it is.

I'm REALLY enjoying staying home now (and I never thought I would be this content with it). Maybe it's because I'm actually staying really busy with two kids, keeping up a house (which I'm not very good at right now...gets dirty just too fast), and I'm really enjoying spending time with family and friends that I have here. I'm glad we have good people around us...it makes life so much more enjoyable! I'm also back into working out regularly and that makes me feel really good because this pregnancy isn't as easy to get rid of than the first one. I'm training for a Relay race to help me out...it is a 12 man team race from Santa Barbara to Dana Point (200 miles) and each person takes 3 legs of it ranging from 3-7 miles each. So, in a 24 hour period you run a total of about 15-20 miles but broken up (thank goodness, because I'm starting from scratch here and will need the breaks). It is at the end of April, so I'm hoping to be ready in time....it will be a CRAZY 24 hours! I could be running in the middle of the night, too...you never know!

Well, I hope the next few months go as smoothly as the first two for us! We absolutely LOVE being back in California and I can't wait for this summer when I can take both my boys to the BEACH! And i can enjoy it a little more too!

Our Fabulous Holiday

We had such a good holiday this year....new baby and lots of family around. It was really a great time! Did I mention it was BEAUTIFUL weather too?? Sorry to all my friends and family back east who are having a horrible winter!

We also had Jack's 1 month check up and as expected....he is 95% in height and weight. Can't remember the height, but weight was 11 lbs 4 oz. His head circ. was 60%, so it is average....guess that's why I didn't totally get demolished when he came out (sorry for the graphic mental picture)! It still hurt like hell though! I haven't forgotten! Dane also got his pre-kindergarten check up and got 4 shots and screamed bloody murder! The nurse and I were both holding him down and the nurse told me that was the most force she had to use with any kid! He does NOT like the doctor ever since his little hospital stay he had a few years ago. At least he doesn't need shots for a VERY long time!

Anyway, we are enjoying the new year and I am REALLY enjoying getting active again...it's nice to have your own personal gym at your fingertips that you don't even have to pay for, because you run it! It's doing pretty well right now because all the people with fitness/health resolutions are coming out of woodwork and joining! Hope they can keep with it...for the good of their health and our pockets! Win Win! Here are a few pics from our holiday! There's more on facebook, too, so check those out!

Right after waking up...getting ready to get started!

Dane actually took this...pretty good...Jack is growing so fast!

His absolute favorite toy this year....slot car race track! He freaked out when he saw it....wish we had it on film! Classic Christmas reaction!

One of his many nerf guns....these things come out alot! Dad and Dane each have their own and they love to use them!

Check out Dane with his high flying moves!!
